In my first year as Director of Bands at ROWVA High School, our small but mighty 18-member marching band overcame every challenge, starting the season while I was away on military duty and still finishing 2nd at the Illinois Marching Band Championships. The story was featured by KWQC News, highlighting the students’ incredible dedication, teamwork, and heart.

Western Illinois University alumnus Wes Anderson, a 2025, returns to the stage as guest conductor for the Knox-Galesburg Symphony concert Saturday, Nov. 22, in Galesburg.

In fall 2025, Western Illinois University featured my upcoming guest conducting appearance with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, a full-circle moment, as this was the first orchestra I ever heard live growing up.
